Mission
The CU Green Fund actively partners with a wide variety of community members and organizations to generate important revenue for innovative sustainability projects on campus, as well as, provide scholarships for students and researchers who are engaged in sustainability-related ventures at CU or in the community.
A Brief History
In 2010, the CU Foundation and the CU Environmental Center founded the CU Green Fund with the support of a $50,000 dollar gift from the departing 2010 Senior Class. Since 2003, students at the University of Colorado have raised over $2.5 million dollars for sustainability-related projects on campus and in the Boulder community. This fund was established through a strong partnership of administrative, student, and faculty representatives and is intended to further support and enhance sustainability initiatives on the CU Boulder campus.
Ultimate Goal
The CU Green Fund is intended to support innovative and successful sustainability projects on campus and in the community that reduce our ecological footprint. By encouraging partnerships among students, faculty, researchers, staff, and community members, this fund has the potential to produce ground-breaking sustainability projects that can be adopted by other communities around the world. As one of the greenest universities in the country, the University of Colorado and its partners are in a unique position to tackle the largest barriers to sustainability and make a positive difference in the world—driving innovation and affecting change.
