What YOU can do to help CU Win Recycle Mania
Whether you realize it or not, every action you make adds up to make a difference… for better or worse.
YOU can choose your actions to make a difference for the better, and not to mention, help CU win Recycle Mania (or at least beat CSU)! The following are recommendations to help you get in the habit: reduce your waste, reuse, and recycle.
REDUCE YOUR WASTE IN THE FIRST PLACE
- Read Newspapers, Articles, and documents on line
- Purchase products with little or no packaging
- Buy in bulk
- Only take what you need… excess or extra means waste
- Buy recycled or reused products when you can
CHOOSE TO REUSE
- Lug your Mug for that daily coffee/tea
- Drag your Bag (reusable bag) when going to the grocery store or shopping
- Invest in a water bottle… Refill instead of Re buying
- Ask for reusable plates, cups, and utensils when buying a meal
- Double Side It – make sure your printer is set on double sided printing and reuse any blank sides of paper before recycling
RECYCLE
- Recycle as much material as you can: %80 of our waste is recyclable with a little extra effort
- Hold on to that can/bottle/paper until you find a recycling bin. Odds are, there is one right around the corner on the CU Campus
- Use desk side or in-room recycling bins to collect your recyclables
- Encourage others to recycle. A few minor words can make a big difference
BUY RECYCLED PRODUCTS
- Vote with your Dollar: YOU have the power to make change
- “Close the Loop” by purchasing products made from recycled content. As demand for recycled products increases, so does the need to collect recycling
- Support products with a high “post-consumer” recycled content
