Recycle Mania is a ten week long national competition between over 500 colleges and universities to see who can reduce their waste and recycle the most. The duration of the contest is from January 18th through March 28th.
As Recycle Manis is a friendly competition, the main purpose is to raise awareness about recycling and increase participation in recycling programs across the country. There are a series of competitions or "categories" that schools can compete within, depending on the data they provide. For the 5th year in a row, the University of Colorado at Boulder is competing in Recycle Mania. Since recycling on the CU Boulder campus happens year round, Recycle Mania gives the CU Community a chance to show their "Buff Pride" as a leader in Sustainable Development to the nation.
