Trash Audit Form - Fort Lewis: PDF (62 KB), DOC (44 KB)
The Dumpster Surveys are a great way to assess how much garbage your campus is creating. By tracking the amount of garbage in dumpsters before they are dumped, you can see which dumpsters are being dumped too often for the amount of trash they collect. We were able to save Fort Lewis College almost $13,000 in one year by cutting back on the number of dumping days. This form serves as a template for collecting the data you need. Fill in the information that is applicable to your school.

Composting Guide: PDF (441 KB)
The Governor’s Office of Energy Management and Conservation (OEMC) teamed with the University of Colorado to advance food waste composting in the state of Colorado. CU-Boulder received funding from OEMC to determine and recommend how to handle this challenging part of the waste stream. From this effort came the “Colorado Food Waste Composting Guide,” which is now available here. The planning guide is designed specifically for Colorado institutions, enabling them to choose the best method of composting. Information about the State’s regulatory framework, equipment vendors and existing composting operations is also included in the Guide.
