CONFIDENTIAL
SHREDDING
Document Destruction Services
How It Works
CU Recycling's confidential shredding service is available to CU-Boulder campus departments only.
At your request,
CU Recycling crews will collect your sensitive documents and take
them to our on-campus facility for shredding and recycling with
a guarantee of confidentiality. A certificate of confidential
destruction can be provided.
Our service is available to campus departments for $4.00 per standard-size
paper box or $20.00 per 90-gallon cart. Boxes
should be sealed with tape and labeled "confidential".
Because of limited space in our destruction area, CU Recycling cannot accommodate shredding requests of more than 10 boxes, or two carts, per customer per month.
Departments who generate larger quantities of confidential materials are encouraged to contact a vendor approved for State of Colorado contract priced confidential record destruction. For the latest State of Colorado approved vendors for Data Destruction Services, Click Here.
Pick-Up Schedule
Documents are usually collected on the
next regularly scheduled recycling pick-up from your building,
typically within a week or two.
Recycling Guidelines
It’s our desire to recycle your documents as the highest paper
grade possible. To ensure their recyclability, please see our Office Pak
recycling guidelines before boxing up your confidentials. When possible, rather than mixing with white and light colored
paper, please remove the following items and place in a separate container: goldenrod papers, dark or bright colored
papers, dark colored file folders, hanging file folders, blueprints, transparencies,
computer diskettes. While
these items can still be destroyed, we prefer to keep them separate from
higher quality light-colored papers. Please remove rubberbands and bags. Staples and paperclips are okay.
